Still Life with Skull, Shell, and Wineglass
Oil on Masonite, 9 × 12 inches
About this work
A bird skull, a shell, and a roemer wineglass arranged on a stone ledge — the warm, raked light of the Flemish tradition falling across each object with quiet precision. The roemer, with its applied raspberry prunts and hollow foot, is a recurring motif in 17th-century Dutch vanitas painting.
